Meet Our Team

Dr. Shannon Moore
Dr. Shannon Moore grew up in Woodstock, IL, and started working for Dr. Shawn Costello when she was 16 at the Harvard Veterinary Clinic. She decided to become a veterinarian after the encouragement of Dr. Shawn and graduated in 2011 from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, and together they purchased Hartland Veterinary Clinic in 2014.
Dr. Shannon has a passion for internal medicine along with end-of-life care and home euthanasia. She is extremely devoted to her patients and loves helping them through all life stages. In her free time, Dr. Shannon loves reading, working out, and spending time with her two daughters and husband.

Dr. Shawn Costello
Dr. Shawn Costello grew up in Woodstock, IL and has been practicing veterinary medicine since he graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign in 1986. Along with Hartland Veterinary Clinic, Dr. Shawn also is co-owner of Harvard Veterinary Clinic in Harvard, IL. Dr. Shawn loves both soft tissue and orthopedic surgery and enjoys being able to work with animals every single day.
When he is not working, he loves to run out in his pasture with his Jack Russell Terriers and spend time with his daughter. He also enjoys traveling, hiking in the wilderness, and photography.

Amanda
Amanda began her veterinary career in 2003 as a veterinary assistant at the Harvard Veterinary Clinic. Over the years, she gained extensive experience in both small and large animal medicine, advancing to the role of veterinary technician. Her special interests include inpatient care, surgery, and dentistry. Amanda is thrilled to be reunited with both Dr. Shawn and Dr. Shannon at the Hartland Veterinary Clinic. Outside of work, Amanda enjoys horseback riding and spending time boating and fishing at her family’s lake house in Wisconsin. She shares her home with a dog, two cats, and a variety of farm animals including chickens, peacocks, and horses. This year, she has also developed a new interest in pickleball and swimming.

Ashley
Ashley found her career passion working with animals when she started working at the Harvard Veterinary Clinic in 2006. Harvard is where she first met Dr. Shannon (a fellow vet assistant at the time) and is thrilled to be working with her once again. She is the clinic’s small dog and cat aficionado. When she isn’t spending time with her family, she enjoys audiobooks, traveling and watching true crime shows. Ashley is also a sports fan, and her favorite sport is hockey.

Dani
Dani grew up in Woodstock and began working at Hartland for Dr. Genge’s large and small animal practice when she was a teenager. After high school she left to pursue a career as a paramedic/firefighter/hazardous materials technician until she retired in January 2025. In May, she came back full circle to Hartland Veterinary Clinic. Dani has a passion for large and small animal rescue and enjoys traveling across the country trail riding with her horses that she adopted as orphaned foals. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, water sports, cooking, and gardening. On her days off you will often find her out in the barn loving on her many rescued pets.

Steph
Though Stephanie is the youngest, she is a dedicated technician with experience in patient care, clinical support, and client education. She is passionate about animal welfare and takes pride in providing compassionate, detail-oriented care while supporting veterinarians and other technicians to ensure the best outcomes for patients.

Red
Red has lived in the Woodstock area his whole life on a small dairy farm. He has always been around animals and has been working with Dr. Shannon and Dr. Shawn for many years now. When he is not working, he enjoys checking out new local venues, working on his tractors, exploring farmers’ markets, cooking and taking his dog for long walks. Red is a baseball fan and likes to cheer on the Cubs.

Pepe
Meet Pepe, our 20-year-old adopted trash panda with a zest for life! He’s adventurous, food-motivated, and a part-time stuntman. He still nails every leap and snack he attempts. As a world traveler he’s living a life full of curiosity and excitement.

Walter
Walter is a senior cat with zero chill, is aggressively affectionate, and has absolutely no concept of personal space. Walter loves people—like, loves them—and will be in your face at all times. If you want a cat who acts like a needy grandpa, Walter is your guy.
